:: Song of the Week :: The Way Home - Boundary Blurring

I'm obsessed with this song!! It's one of those songs that just makes life feel like a movie or something.

Of course there's no video or audio available! GRR! But if you happen across this blog post, check out this site:

Um, EW.

My hand sanitizer makes me smell like an 80 yr old man. Like... that weird mix of too much bad cologne and just general old age smell. Gross.

::Song of the Week:: Alabama Shakes - Hold On

I want to see these guys!

::Song of the Week:: Dr. Dog - Lonesome

I have been slacking in the Song-of-the-Week department! Good thing no one actually reads my blog... because I never told anyone about it!

We ARE the walking dead...

It took me about 2 weeks to start and finish the entire printed Walking Dead book series... and now I'm so sad! When will the next one be out?!

At least Ian bought me "The Rise of the Governor"! This should hold me over for a bit.

High Hopes

I spend way too much time pinning wedding stuff for someone who's not engaged...

::Song of the Week:: Edward Sharpe & The Magentic Zeroes - Man on Fire

SOOOO they keep playing this awesome new song from ES&TMZ, but it's not available to purchase until like... sometime in MAY! LAME!

However, I did manage to find one YouTube "video" with it! =0)

::Song of the Week:: The Lumineers - Ho Hey

One of those songs that just warms your heart a tiny bit.

::Retrospective Song of the Week:: Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars - Safe and Sound

OK so I've obviously been slacking with posting in general... but ignoring my song of the week is not acceptable. I won't let it happen again.

However, I at least need to squeeze in the song of the week from 3.18-3.24... which comes directly from The Hunger Games soundtrack and features a band I really like teaming up with a pop/country singer to make sweet, sweet music.

By the way, after waiting for months and months for The Hunger Games movie... I was ultimately pleased. They left out WAY too much information which really pissed me off.... but considering the movie was still 2.5 hours long, I get why they had to do it. But they better step it up for the next one, because Catching Fire is my favorite of the three books. I need to know who's gonna play Finnick!!

Flat Stanley's here!

Flat Stanley was created by my cousin's son, Tommy, in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. (Apparently kids all over the country have been doing this for years... I've never heard of it until now.)

FS has embarked on a kickass journey with the intention of visiting every one of Tommy's family members across America. He's already been with the Schmidts and Hoopers in California for quite some time and he had a blast! Just a few days ago, Flat Stanley arrived for his month in Pennsylvania with my parents and I. He'd been with my dad since his arrival, but I kidnapped him last night for a few days with me and Ian.

So far he's tagged along to work with me... but I plan on taking him out and about for some fun!

FS was so comfy in his guest room bed, he almost changed his mind about coming to work with me:

But when we got to the office, he was excited to hang out with graphic designers all day:

And then he made some new friends on my desk... who make him feel taller than usual:

Tonight we'll do something that's actually fun.

::Song of the Week:: Cold War Kids - Royal Blue

One of the best bands ever, I'm pretty sure. And even though Arcade Fire at the Mann Center was hands down the best concert I've ever been to... these guys at the TLA were definitely second best.

It's almost here!!!

The Hunger Games movie comes out this Friday! FINALLY!!

Can't wait!

::Song of the Week:: Fun. - One Foot

No real music video yet because this album doesn't release until Valentine's Day...

But what a booty-shakin, good jam. =0P

"I will die for my own sins, thanks a lot."

::Song of the Week:: Tori Amos - Wrapped Around Your Finger

Not a huge fan of The Police or Tori Amos, but I love this combo.

Etsy rocks, Cont'd...

I also need to own this!

I haven't actually learned to shoot yet... but the place I bought all of our survival kit contents is big on hunting and they offer private archery lessons! I know it's outlandish for me to spend so much money on something I don't even really know how to use (it's almost $300), but if I'm going to learn and get my own eventually, it definitely needs to be this bad ass.

Etsy rocks my world.

I <3 Etsy!

I just bought a bunch of awesome Harry Potter and Hunger Games themed jewelry and I couldn't be more excited for it to come in the mail. This one's my favorite:

I only started using Etsy this past Halloween when I decided I needed fingerless white lace gloves for my Belle (Disney Princess) costume. But there are just so many awesome, creative people out there making such cool stuff... so much better than all the same old junk at the mall!

So now I'm pretty sure I'm ready to open up a shop, too. A friend told me once that I should use Etsy to sell my wedding invitations, since as of now I've only gotten clients through word of mouth and from my friends' wedding guests tracking me down after the ceremony to ask if I could make theirs too. But I can also make jewelry, clothing, handbags, accessories....I'm even thinking about making soap!

I just wish I could do that for a living instead of spending 60 hours a week in HELL like I do now. Life is so unfair sometimes.

::Song of the Week:: The Snake, The Cross, The Crown - Cakewalk

When I find myself in a spiritual and existential funk... I like to listen to music that reminds that there are plenty of other people who'd prefer to live the lazy life than be a responsible adult...

"NO RESPONSIBILITIES PLEASE... I wanna do what I want. AND I want to get paid."

Real or not real?

So I finally finished Mockingjay. It was amazing, of course! But now I'm really sad that it's over and I have no more adventure to look forward to! Well, aside from the movies. But those will be so few and far between, I think I might have a meltdown in the meantime.

::Song of the Week:: Juliette Commagere - Overcome

This song used to play at a clothing store I worked at a few years ago... I only just remembered about it recently and downloaded it.

Now it mostly reminds of The Hunger Games. =0P

Julliette's MySpace (No video for this song)

"We're gonna ramble 'round and break the back of this old country"

Jesus, Suzanne Collins, I am friggen captivated.

I spent the majority of my Friday night finishing Catching Fire and HOLY CRAP it was amazing. I'm trying not to go too fast with Mockingjay because I'm a little worried that I'll freak out when it's all over. But at least I have the movies to look forward to.

It really is settled though - I am a changed woman. I already felt like an asshole when I would gorge myself on junk food... already felt that my stupid job was meaningless to the real ways of the world... already believed that humanity is closing on it's final year on this earth. And now I'm even more determined than ever to just be healthy and learn how to survive. I'm going to limit my diet to only what my body really needs. Going to cut out all of my horrible habits, like smoking and NOT exercising. I'm going to learn about edible plants and continue to fill the survival kit I bought Ian last summer with useful tools. And most importantly, I'm going to take archery lessons and spend time in a shooting range.

2012 is the year of survival.  Bring it on, apocalypse.

::Song of the Week:: David Gray - This Year's Love

By the way, my "song of the week" is not always going to be a new or current song... just whatever tickles my fancy.

This song just never gets old to me... It's so pretty.

"Every dream inside my soul..."

May the odds be ever in your favor...

OK I might be a little obsessed... but these books really are awesome! Started Catching Fire yesterday and I really just want to go home sick from work so I can finish it!

I just really admire everything about Katniss' character... her strength and independence... to a point where I feel weak and am now overly motivated to be a much stronger person. Especially if shit's really going down this December like those crazy Mayans predicted... because I want to be ready.. I want to survive.

Found this awesome painting of her on Google... The girl who was on fire... She's so badass.
